With Strict Restrictive Dieting, the person not only losses his weight but also loses muscle mass, which leads to weakness, back again to eating more and again gaining weight. Better way is to have right combination of Eating, Exercise and Sleeping. Eat when hungry, Exercise when feeling active, Sleep when feeling tired and sleepy. Do not interfere with body clock, live naturally. Replace useless foods in your diet with nutritious foods instead of staying artificially hungry and then eating lots of chocolates (this hungry sweet high variance cycle will overwork your pancreas for insulin production and your blood sugar levels will become irregular overtime, this is very dangerous habit that people drift in).
